Most people expect to find a job within a week of applying for one. College students are excited about graduating and ready to start working in the real world. It can become frustrating after putting in applications for weeks and not getting a response. There could be a reason for can't find a job or not getting a response. Knowing how to avoid certain mistakes people make when job hunting can help with being successful with your occupation search.

Creating a plan is resourceful when looking for a new occupation. Occupation searchers need to identify the position that he or she wants to pursue with a company. People who want to work as a computer programmer would look for the position with companies in their local area.

The next step is coming up with a plan on how to find job openings in a particular field. There are different ways to job search, such as looking online, going to local offices to put a resume on file, visiting temporary employment agencies or using online occupation boards. It is important to network and get your resume in front of as many hiring managers as possible.

It helps to research the company before visiting the local office or inquiring about a position. Employment searchers can benefit from compiling a list of companies and doing basic research. There are online websites that can help with finding information about a variety of industries in different fields.

Another option is visiting the company's website and reading the press releases. Searchers should take notes and use the information to their advantage during the interview. Many people make the mistake of visiting the company to fill out an application in casual clothes.

Some people may show up in jeans and a T-shirt because of just dropping off a resume. However, first impressions are important. Career applicants should dress in business attire when showing up to drop off a resume. Business attire should not only be worn for the interview, but whenever visiting the company in person.

Career applicants have to project the image of being a professional. People who walk into an office just wearing jeans give the impression of the average person looking for a job. It is also important to be realistic and give a reasonable timeframe for landing a new career.

Some people expect to find employment after putting in a couple of applications. It can take several applications before finding a few leads. There is also the possibility of not being qualified or considered for a position. However, rejections come with employment search. It is how applicants handle rejection and continue with their employment search.

Career seekers must complete their plan and visit every business on the list. Some people may want to give up after a couple of rejections and develop a negative attitude. Every company should be looked at as a new opportunity to land a new career. Hiring managers are looking for someone who exudes confidence and willing to work with a company. Making mistakes can be the reason for can't find a job.
